Henry Knox
Henry Knox was born in Boston, his parents were William Knox and Mary Campbell Knox. He was born in 1750. His parents were pioneers from North Ireland. Henry was the seventh of ten children. Knox supported the American cause. He became a member of the Boston Grenadier Corps. He was a volunteer in June 1775 at the Battle of Bunker Hill. He served under General Ward in 1775,
Knox, was promoted to brigadier-general as a result of his service. He was also told to creating an arsenal, and Knox did at Springfield. Knox was involved in fighting at both the battles of Brandywine and Germantown.
Eventually, the British army captured Yorktown. After the surrender of Cornwallis on October 19, 1781, Knox was promoted to major-general. Knox was then promoted again to Secretary of War. To work for Washington, he was also in charge of dealing with the little problems of Washington.
Knox died in 1806. He was buried in Thomaston.
